DIMENSIONAL HAIRCOLOR TECHNIQUES

The majority of today's women have experienced some form of hair coloring. Many choose the foil method which adds some lightness to their color, and requires less maintenance than overall haircolor.

Foiling hair perfectly is truly an art and it's a specialty at SALON 340.

To achieve perfect results, three important factors must be carefully addressed. The numerical   level or "lightness" of the color selected, the quantity of color we weave into the hair and finally, the careful placement of the color stands we add to compliment the hair design.

Once hair has been foil highlighted , we eventually address the retouch application, usually done   two to three months.   We can't stress the importance of this process enough and hope to explain some key points about our method .

The weave pattern we first established in the hair is the pattern we follow with exact precision. This means we again subsection the hair and carefully retrace our pattern, picking up the same blond strands which have grown away from the scalp. The virgin area of each strand is where our blonding product is applied. ONLY this regrowth area is lightened, so that it perfectly blends   into the previously lightened hair strands.

If care is not taken by the hair colorist during this step, and hair which was not originally lightened is added into the foils, you will end up with an "overblonding" problem and lose the beauty of the varigated effect achieved by dimensional coloring.   Clients who have watched as their foiled hair turns into a solid blond mass of color can be sure that their retouches have not been properly applied. The damage which can occur from over processing can cause extensive breakage which cannot be repaired. This will eventually require a corrective procedure to rebalance the color and replace the darker "background" color. (See Blonde Reduction under Corrective Color)
